Our client a leading Oil and Gas Operator in Aberdeen has an opportunity for a Trainee Buyer to join them on a staff basis. An exciting entry level requirement offering the ability to grow and develop.

Principal Accountabilities

§Work includes reviewing requests, talking to vendors, project managers, engineers and employees at all levels. Examining price, suitability, and availability of items or services. Comparing specifications, and reviewing or proposing alternatives to requests to fulfil requirements and achieve affirmative action, value analysis or other objectives.
§On receipt of requisitions, reviews requisition request for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with existing policies and procedures. Prepares purchase orders through a computerised system for goods and service in a timely manner as required. Secures additional information on departmental needs and may prepare recommendations on vending sources. Interacts with quality assurance on matters of vendor delivered quality.
§Establishes and maintains purchasing systems and procedures to ensure honest, fair, legally correct and ethical relationships with all vendors.
§Interacts with management, engineering and other staff regarding materials requirements, delivery schedules, and other considerations to facilitate asset requirements.
§Perform other duties as required.
§Refers to Procurement Team Lead for additional guidance in carrying out specified responsibilities.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Qualifications required

§Good general knowledge of education. Possess good computer skills, Microsoft Office, understanding of or willingness to learn Company Proprietary Software Systems.
§Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discount interest commissions proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume.

§Have excellent communication and well-developed problem solving skills.
§Exhibit willingness and flexibility to acquire new skills and adapt to change.
§Have the ability to multi-task and work under pressure to tight meet deadlines.
§Deal with internal customers, suppliers of colleagues in a friendly manner and follow through with their requests, and update on feedback effectively and accurately, building working relations with colleagues at all levels.
§Be able to assimilate large amounts of information at any given time and prioritise as necessary and be able to communicate both verbally and written at all levels.
§Undertaking any other tasks/duties as directed by the Purchasing Team Lead.
§Ability to read and interpret documents such as price lists, parts catalogues requisitions vendor quotes and invoices.
§Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively to vendors and employees of the organisation.

Experience required

§Willingness to learn and advance education through attending training workshops and meetings.
§Knowledge of SAP is advantageous however on-site training of the system will form part of the role.
§Have a high degree of computer literate - to include competence in the following Microsoft applications - Work, Excel and E-mail.
