Our client, a leading oil and gas operator now have an immediate requirement for a senior pipeline engineer / Technical Authority to join them on a 12 month contract initially with possibility of extension there after, this role is onshore based in Aberdeen.

Pipeline Discipline Engineering Pipelines - high quality technical assurance and support to a portfolio of challenging projects primarily in the UK (and globally on opportunity basis), with specific accountability for design, construction, installation, pre- commissioning and (flawless start-up) of Flowlines, Risers and Pipelines.
The dominant workload is Front End Project definition, tendering support, execution assurance and troubleshooting.
This position is specifically a Senior Technical Authority (TA2) design and execute role.
Significant capability and autonomy in Engineering analysis and design is a requirement.
Ability to perform design activities to various design codes and to provide practical solutions outside of code limits using analytical and numerical modelling techniques is required.
Operations and integrity experience (inc. TA2 status in this area) is an advantage.

Provision of first line technical and project related tasks with a focus on realizing asset specific HSE, integrity, cost and availability performance targets.
Contribute specialist discipline engineering input to optimize business opportunities through the correct application and specification of discipline design requirements and implementation of associated best practices.
The UK sector has an aging infrastructure and some particularly challenging design issues and issues with reuse of existing facilities.
Input on these critical issues is required to support current and future projects.
Networking within the organisation, to fully understand brownfield issues related to pipeline and riser work scopes, is a key task.
Network within discipline locally and globally (through CoP, SGN, external societies and bodies etc.) to ensure lateral learning and the application of best practice to projects.
Advise on matters of specification, design, selection, procurement, application and maintenance and identify/recognise potential hazards in own discipline and propose/implement solutions to eliminate/minimize.
Stay abreast of new technology in area of specialism and identify opportunities for advancement and deployment of key technology in projects.
Provide input to the maintenance and development of technical standards as required.
Interface with higher discipline technical authorities as required.
Personally provide engineering and design capability where necessary and also by engaging with external consultants and acting as focal point for their work.
Coach and mentor junior staff to transfer skills and build capability to perform analysis and hands on design internally.
Ability to drive fit for purpose `mi effective / competitive scope for new projects.

Provide discipline engineering assessments of identified prospects for business development teams, projects and asset teams, and NOVs.
Provide engineering input for projects during all phases of the development projects, including Feasibility and Concept, Execution and also, when requested by UPO, pipeline operations i.e. Maintenance and inspection work. Develop, maintain, and follow front end engineering processes.
Give advice within own discipline and act as TA2 level design authority.
Be flexible to work together with others in own discipline for best practices, across P&T, and with other disciplines for appropriate multi-disciplinary approach.

Experience and Qualifications required:
Experience and Masters degree in technical discipline.
Professional/Chartered engineering qualification.
A demonstrable commitment to HSE and Quality.
Project delivery experience including background in various aspects of EP project execution - design, procurement, fabrication, installation, commissioning and start-up.
Experience of subsea pipeline and equipment installation.
Experience of contract management processes (e.g. studies, detailed design, construction, installation and/or procurement contracts).Well developed relationship skills.
Highly developed team player qualities.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with customers and other team members
