Our client, based in the South-Side of the City, are recruiting of a Safety Engineer and Senior Safety Engineer to join their team on a Permanent basis.

Job objective

-Performance of Health, Safety & Environment activities in support of the companys objectives as described in the Companys CMAPP and HSEQ Policy.

Department objective

-The HSEQ & RC Department is responsible for managing all Health, Safety, Environmental, Quality and Regulatory Compliance activities and for the promotion of HSEQ awareness in order to contribute to the realization of the companys goals and strategy.
Result areas

-Establishes a cooperative working relationship within the department and company.
-Reports regularly to the line manager and functional (tender/project/asset) manager on progress, setbacks and concerns.
-Correctly administrates work in accordance with the Companys Corporate Management System (CMS).
-Develops him/herself through training and courses and therewith remains conversant with applicable rules, regulations and legislative developments.
-Actively contributes to corporate and department continuous improvement initiatives.
-Provides independent technical HSE advice to ensure that the risks to persons and the environment are managed to a level that is as low as reasonably practicable (ALARP), thereby ensuring compliance with corporate objectives and applicable legislation.
-If necessary performs activities abroad; on site, offshore or with client.
-Assists the onshore emergency organisation when required.

Project support
-Prepares the project HSE plan and construction HSE plan based on Clients and Companys requirements.
-Implements project HSE requirements into the design.
-Initiates, recommends, provides and monitors improvements.
-Reports to Project Management on HSE matters.
-Prepares and execute HSE audits and reviews on construction sites.
-Participates in incident investigations on construction sites.
-Initiates the preparation of Design Performance Standards.

Operations support
-Acts as focal point for HSE related questions/issues and establish a good and professional relationship between the Company and relevant parties like; the Health & Safety Executive and OSDR.
-Ensures the health of the Safety & Environmental Critical Elements (SECEs) by the continuous assessment and documenting of these barriers as described in the Safety Case.
-Reviews RMs (modifications and projects) on changes that could influence HSE risks.
-Prepares and execute PSM audits and reviews as per the Asset Audit plan.
-Participates in incident investigations.
-Initiates the preparation of Operations Performance Standards.

-Prepares Tender documentation.
-Pro-actively searches, assesses and distributes new applicable legislation.
-Performs audits on ISO 14001 and Process Safety Management.
-Prepares incident and audit trend analysis and HSE Performance Indicators.
Senior HSE Engineer
-Acts as focal point for communication with relevant parties like the HSE and OSDR and record correspondence.
-Leads incident investigations.
-Supports external consultants carrying out HSE studies to ensure delivery of effective solutions.
-Coaches junior engineers and identifies training/competency requirements.
-Contributes to the department year plan.
Education & Experience
-Bachelor/Master degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.
-Excellent written and spoken English.
-Understanding and knowledge of UK legislation (including OSCR, PFEER, PSR, MAR, DCR) and main regulatory bodies.
-Experience in auditing.
-Experience in function for at least 8 years (only for Senior).

Authority & Control
-The HSE Engineer reports to the Section Head HSE. Additionally, authority and responsibilities as indicated in the Companys Corporate Management System apply.
