RAeburn are handling an exciting opportunity for a candidate to join our recognisable client in Aberdeen.

Hours would be flexible - circa 16-20 hours per week

The role would provide leadership in safeguarding of Children and Vulnerable Adults across the business streams maintaining key relationships with internal and external personnel, overseeing the PVG application process; continual promotion of the company's legal and moral responsibility to provide a duty of care to children and vulnerable adults.

Main Responsibilities/Description of Duties:

- Maintain the Safeguarding Policy ensuring up to date with legislation
- Provide regular reports on compliance and updates on current legislation and any changes to statutory agency legislative which will impact the business
- Set up and maintain effective and regular communication channels
- Ensure policies and procedures are comprehensive, updated, and compliant with statutory obligations across all area of activities.
- Ensure that there is a company wide awareness of current legislative obligations, eg. Safe recruitment, use of images etc.
- Ensure ongoing review and revision of child and vulnerable groups protection practice and procedure within the business.
- Represent the company in a range of relevant activities/meetings.
- Liaise with external bodies to further knowledge and good relationships including Police, Childrens Services, Disclosure Scotland etc.
- Provide Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups training to all appropriate members of staff, and updates on an annual basis.
- Develop a process that ensures all personnel, volunteers, parents and children are aware of who the safeguarding officer is and how to pass on a concern
- Take responsibility for your own development and to help realise your own potential by undertaking any necessary internal or external training sessions as appropriate
- Lead signatory of PVG application process, providing assistance to staff in the recruitment process.
- Working closely with co-ordinators to maintain and update the PVG Disclosure datasets, performing data cleansing as necessary.


- Have relevant previous professional experience of advising on child protection issues, with associated qualifications and from a social, work education or health background.
- Highly motivated, with resilience and determination and the confidence and good judgement to manage situations relating to the poor conduct/behaviour of others towards a child.
- To be committed to the ethos of safeguarding young people under 18 years and vulnerable adults
- Prepared to pass on concerns to professional agencies when necessary.
- Good IT Skills
- To be familiar with current Safeguarding legislation, policies and practice and governing body rules and regulations
- To be empathetic and approachable, a good listener with a friendly manner
- To be observant, objective, have attention to detail can be well organised
- Ability to critically analyse situation and identify issues
- Good presentation and facilitation skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to use own initiative and have a flexible and responsive approach to work
- Ability to work as part of a team
