Raeburn Recruitment are assisting our client, a global oil and gas company, with a requirement for a Naval Architect. This is a permanent opportunity based in Aberdeen.

As Naval Architect, you will be responsible for providing naval architecture support to various interfaces such as vessels, projects and operational personnel. Your main duties will include:
- Overseeing and maintaining the intact and damage stability assessment of all vessels
- Undertaking stability tests - lightship surveys, draft surveys, supervise stability computer installations
- Providing guidance on NDT inspection, weld repair procedure specifications and structural strengthening
- Providing discipline support of the maintenance, selection and replacement of firefighting appliances and lifesaving appliances onboard vessels
- Providing discipline support of load line compliance and the safe management of watertight enclosures

To be considered for the Naval Architect opportunity, you should be able to demonstrate the following:
- Good degree in naval architecture and/or marine engineering with small craft design, ocean engineering, marine engineering/naval architecture or offshore engineering is essential
- Experience in vessel and general structure design
- Experience in vessel construction and steelwork fabrication
- Experience in stability and hull integrity
- Experience in condition surveys
- Experience in vessel motions, hydrodynamics and model testing
- Classification society and statutory/flag state knowledge
- Experience in AutoCAD design draughting
- Member, Associate Member or Graduate Member of the Royal Institution of Naval Architects (RINA), Institute of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE), Institute of Marine Engineers, Scientists and Technologists (IMarEST) and/or the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers (SNAME) is preferable
