Our client, a world leading owner and operator of semi-submersible accommodation and service rigs have an opening for Senior Buyer to be based in their office in Tullos, Aberdeen. Responsible for providing efficient purchasing and procurement management of material and services, within the company’s Supply Chain Management systems, the Senior Buyer will ensure selection of the most appropriate goods and services on the basis of price, quality, delivery times and services support. You will liaise with all relevant departments for all purchasing and procurement activities related to vendors and sub-contractor suppliers. The successful candidate will have relevant experience in buying marine / technical equipment and supplies, gained within the international Oil & Gas service industry and will preferably hold a Degree or Management Qualification in Supply Chain Management/Purchasing & Supply; Graduate or Advanced Diploma CIPS; Relevant membership of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply (MCIPS) Or suitably qualified with relevant experience or working towards Professional Qualifications. Duties: The responsibilities of the Senior Buyer include, but are not limited to Leadership, Supervision and training of the Buying Function; Actively promote and champion the use of best practise to ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures. Liaising between suppliers, manufacturers, relevant internal departments and clients; Liaise closely with Senior Logistics Specialist regarding best method of shipment and most cost effective option for deliveries of goods; In conjunction with the Strategic Supply Chain Specialist(s) / Contracts Function, assist with planning, negotiating and updating existing and new supplier contracts and related market assessment, based on commercial and technical factors, for any new source of supply; In conjunction with the Strategic Supply Chain Specialist(s) and Operations Functions, contribute to regular two way performance feedbacks with critical suppliers and sub-contractors; Robust review of all related sub-contractor and supplier invoices. This shall include ensuring all necessary authorisations, accurate coding and supporting documentation is in place; Developing purchasing strategy in conjunction with Supply Chain Management; Producing reports and statistics using computer software; Participation in audits as required; Keeping accurate records of all procurement files and using them as reference for the future; Ensuring suppliers are aware of business objectives; Checking costs, quality and levels of service; Attending meetings and trade conferences; Visiting manufacturers, distribution centres and service suppliers; The post holder will be expected to travel as required both locally and internationally.
