IT Business Analyst

Job Title: Business Analyst Our client is looking to employ a highly skilled IT Business Analyst who would be accountable to the Business Managers, supervisors and other key customers for translating business strategies into IT requirements and developing business requirements for IT Shared Services. The IT Business Analyst is also accountable to the IT global function for advocacy of the IT policies, strategies and practices. Finally, the Business Analyst is accountable to the UK Upstream IT Business Partner Organisation to contribute to an effective portfolio management of the IT project budget. Primary Functions & Dimensions: Translate business needs/strategies into IT requirements and source IT services to meet requirements (current and future) Understand business processes end-to-end, actively measuring business contribution of enabling systems, and initiate improvement to the process and/or systems Work with Service Managers to ensure services meet business needs Provide projected demand for services to the Service Managers Understand and communicate to the business both the costs and value of services provided Owner of software lifecycle management process for their customer group(s) (nomination, investigation, approval, acquisition, installation, operations and disposition of software) to ensure optimal business application portfolio Perform front-end-loading (FEL), business case development, present to Business and IT management for approval and, where appropriate, lead projects Review the range of existing solutions available and present options and recommendations to the business on which ones to use Work with business-unit-specific vendors and industry groups Influence customer demand Essential Skills: Computing Science degree, B.Sc. or M.Sc. or comparable education. Non-computing education may be compensated with documented relevant experience of working in similar role for a production / operations facing IT organisation Strong communications and networking skills Highly developed influencing and interpersonal skills Highly motivated, self reliant, problem solver Enthusiastic with a questioning and challenging attitude Analytical, planning and organisation competency Ability to make rational decisions under pressure Exposure to SAP, Pi, Energy Components, Business Objects, SAP BI and other significant Upstream applications Preferred: Project management and leadership experience Proven ability to build and maintain key business relationships Organizational change management experience Negotiation skills Business Process Management and exposure to holding BPM workshops as part of requirement’s identification Organisational Fit: This role sits within the Upstream IT Business Partner Organisation and reports both administratively and functionally to the BU IT Business Partner. Key relationships will be with the BU IT Business Partner, Customers and Process Owners. Challenges: Managing customer expectation within fiscal constraints. Through influence management, implementing technical innovation within standardised infrastructure.
