Pension Auto Enrolment - working for Raeburn just got even better

From October 2012 new legislation relating to savings and pension came into effect throughout the UK – this is known as Auto Enrolment and its introduction is being phased depending on employer size.  The law relating to workplace pensions has changed because the Government wants encourage a retirement’s savings culture in the UK.

These changes are relevant to our Agency Workers because the new legislation requires Raeburn Healthcare and Raeburn Recruitment to automatically enroll Agency Workers into a workplace pension scheme provided they are eligible.

Raeburn Recruitment are legally required to comply with this law from 1st May 2014 - this is known as Raeburn’s Staging Date. Raeburn Healthcare are legally required to comply with this law from 1st Jan 2014 although there will be a 3 month waiting period applicable to our Healthcare workers.

Following a comprehensive review process with a number of pension providers, Raeburn have appointed NOW: Pensions as its preferred partner to manage pension provisions. NOW: Pensions have a wealth of experience behind them and sets out to bring flexibility, performance, cost efficiency and simplify to the UK pension industry.

Effective from the Auto Enrolment staging dates for Raeburn Recruitment and Raeburn Healthcare, Agency Workers will be automatically enrolled into the NOW: pension plan provided they meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • aged between 22 and state pension age

  • Raeburn earnings (including all taxable elements of pay and before deductions) are more than £182 per week.

If you do meet the above conditions and are therefore eligible, you will be required by law to make a contributions of 1% of your qualifying earnings. These are your taxable earnings in excess of £109 per week. Your contribution will be deducted automatically from your weekly wages. Raeburn Recruitment will also make the same contribution - 1% - on your behalf.

If you do not meet the eligibility criteria, automatic enrolment will not apply to you immediately however it may do so if you meet the criteria in the future.  You can choose to stop contributing if you wish but only after you have been enrolled into the Pension Plan.

For more information about NOW: Pensions visit www.nowpensions.com or contact Raeburn on 01224 625050 or at info@raeburn.com

Raeburn Nurse and Care Launch New System as Recruitment Drive Continues

One of the area’s leading care providers has responded to an increase in demand with the implementation of a new, innovative software package.

Aberdeen-based Raeburn Nurse and Care - a division of Raeburn Group Limited - has, over the past year, recorded a 72% increase in demand for its care services in Aberdeen. This is mainly attributed to the invaluable expertise, honesty and reliability of staff working within this particular area of the business.

Requests from Aberdeenshire are on the up too, thanks to a rise in the number of requests for private care coupled with a recent contract opportunity with the local authority to provide care in people’s own homes. This has led to the creation of flexible, part-time and full-time jobs – across the region.

With an existing team of more than 120 community carers, Raeburn Nurse and Care is one of the North east’s foremost providers of carers supporting people to live independently.

And in a bid to step up to the mark, the company has just unveiled a new system which will improve efficiency of service for users – providing many benefits to service users, contracting organisations, carers and staff.

Among the many features of the new software system is a “TeleScheduler” which enables more effective utilisation of resources by providing details about which carers are available, where and when. It also enables staff to view live visit information to ascertain when visits have been commenced and completed.

Commenting on the new software, Raeburn Group Limited Community Care Manager Liz Sutherland said: “Over the past few months, we have been evaluating methods of providing a more efficient service to our clients and service users whilst ensuring that care workers are also well looked after.

“We sometimes have to deal with requests at very short notice, so this new system will help us to know which Carer is best placed to answer that call.”

Liz added: “The installation of this new software enables us to provide an even better service and reinforces Raeburn’s reputation as a leader at the cutting edge of our profession.”

Due to expansion, Raeburn Nurse and Care is able to offer work to Carers who can support ill, frail or elderly people to live independently in their own homes. Raeburn to create jobs in Aberdeenshire

A leading Aberdeen company is celebrating the creation of jobs in and around Aberdeenshire, thanks to a new contract with Aberdeenshire Council.

Aberdeen-based Raeburn Nurse and Care is a division of Raeburn Group Limited and has just secured a contract with the local authority to provide care in people’s own homes.

And the company is now looking to employ local carers who can support ill, frail or elderly people to live independently in their own homes in the Aberdeenshire area.

With an existing team of more than 120 community carers, Raeburn Nurse and Care is one of the North East’s foremost providers of carers supporting people to live independently.  Although Raeburn holds contracts with Aberdeen City Council and now Aberdeenshire Council for the provision of care in people’s own homes, the service is also available on a private basis.

“For many of our service users, carers do more than provide a service, explained Raeburn Group Limited Community Care Manager Liz Sutherland.  “Often they can provide vital social and emotional support for people – in some cases, the carer may be the only visitor in a day so there can be a strong person-centred direction to the role.

“In order to comply with the Raeburn stringent recruitment process, prospective workers must have a minimum of six months’ relevant care experience which could be caring for a relative at home.  As a result, we consistently attract, and supply, carers of a very high calibre.

“Training is also very high on our agenda and it is important that our carers are equipped with the right tools for the job, whether that be moving and handling, first aid training or dementia and palliative care awareness.”

Carers also benefit from 24-hour nurse-led support from Raeburn Group Limited head office with qualified nurses available to help deal with any emergency issues that may arise.

Liz added: “The carers have the confidence to do their jobs well because we are giving them all the support, qualified advice and encouragement they need.  The result is that carers are able to concentrate on what they do best – and that is looking after the wide spectrum of service users we care for.”

Raeburn is regulated by the Scottish Commission for the Regulation of Care and received exceptionally high quality grades following an annual inspection and audit in March this year.  Full details of the report can be found on www.carecommission.com

For further information on becoming a carer with Raeburn Group Limited – or to access the services - contact Liz Sutherland, Community Care Manager at liz.sutherland@raeburn.com or call (01224) 628700 for a confidential discussion.

The Rewards of Caring

Supporting ill, frail or elderly people to live independently in their own homes is becoming an increasingly popular career choice, according to one leading Aberdeen recruitment company.

With a team of more than 120 community carers working throughout Aberdeen, Raeburn Nurse and Care (a division of Raeburn Group Limited) is one of the area's foremost providers of carers supporting people to live independently. Although Raeburn holds contracts with Aberdeen City Council for the provision of care in people's own homes, the service is also available on a private basis.

For many carers, the rewards of being able to help make a difference to daily lives are an even stronger draw, as Raeburn Group Limited Community Care Manager Liz Sutherland explained, "For many of our service users, carers do more than provide a service. Often they can provide vital social and emotional support for people - in some cases, the carer may be the only visitor in a day so there can be a strong person-centred direction to the role.

"In order to comply with the Raeburn stringent recruitment process, prospective workers must have a minimum of six months' relevant care experience and, as a result, we consistently attract, and supply, carers of a very high calibre.

"Training is also very high on our agenda and it is important that our carers are equipped with the right tools for the job, whether that be moving and handling, first aid training or dementia and palliative care awareness. In short, training can be offered for any area where a carer feels it is needed."

Many carers work primarily on their own in the community, so training sessions are also seen as an excellent way of bringing the team together to share experiences, knowledge, and to spend time with colleagues.

Carers also benefit from 24-hour support from Raeburn Group Limited head office where qualified nurses are available to help deal with any emergency issues that may arise.

Liz added: "The carers have the confidence to do their jobs well because we are giving them all the support, qualified advice and encouragement they need. Targeted training can be offered to meet the individual needs of the service user.

"The result is that carers are able to concentrate on what they do best and that is looking after the wide spectrum of service users we care for. Service users and their families in turn have confidence in Raeburn because they know they are in good hands."

Raeburn is regulated by the Scottish Commission for the Regulation of Care. Liz - and all of the Community Care Team - were very proud to learn that Raeburn received exceptionally high Quality Grades following the annual inspection and audit by the Care Commission in March 2009. Full details of the report can be found on www.carecommission.com

Raeburn Growth Continues Apace

Leading Aberdeen-based recruitment firm Raeburn Group Limited has underlined its ongoing success with the announcement of two promotions within the company.

Raeburn has grown considerably over the past year with staff numbers doubling to just over 60.  In line with this growth two members of the administration team have stepped up to become Recruitment Assistants, providing additional support to the Recruitment Managers working on ever-increasing National and International demand for the organisations services.

Paul Russell will focus on vacancies within IT whilst Louise Forbes will be primarily concerned with opportunities in HR.  Their previous positions have already been filled thanks to the recruitment of new staff from Raeburn Group’s current pool of registered candidates, which totals around 11,000 for the firm’s Commercial Division alone.

Paul Russell is a former IT Customer Care Assistant and Customer Services Advisor whilst Louise Forbes wasted no time in joining Raeburn Group Limited, leaving school and starting work within the space of three days!  Both have expressed their enthusiasm for their new roles and are delighted to be able to progress their careers whilst remaining with Raeburn.

Commenting on the promotions, Raeburn Group Limited Operations Director Dianne McBain said: “When we advertised out recent posts, we were inundated with CVs and, after following our normal recruitment process, we’re delighted that two existing employees were amongst the strongest candidates.

“Having held Investors in People accreditation for over 12 years, it’s great to be able to reap the rewards of our ongoing commitment to these standards and we are looking forward to helping Paul and Louise continue their professional development within the company.  Both will have an opportunity to achieve their REC (Recruitment and Employment Confederation) Qualification so that they can go on to become bona fide Recruitment Consultants.”

She added: “As an organisation, we are continually working towards improvement in all areas of what we do and this is a factor which, we believe, encourages staff development and retention.”

North-east recruitment specialists Raeburn moving to larger premises as business booms

RECRUITMENT specialist Raeburn Group moves into new offices on Monday, December 10, 2007.

The company, one of the leading independent recruitment agencies in Scotland, has been based at 220 Union Street since 1990. However, due to continuing expansion and with the number of personnel it retains approaching 500, Raeburn’s directors recognised it was time to relocate.

The decision was taken to move to an entirely refurbished, open-plan office on the top floor of Ruby House, in Aberdeen’s Ruby Lane. The city-centre building is also home to HM Revenue and Customs.

Raeburn operations director Dianne McBain said: “The new open-plan office allows us to accommodate the additional staff we are recruiting to further improve the levels of service to clients and candidates looking for new work opportunities.”

Raeburn currently employs 40 staff including account managers and consultants. It is anticipated a further 10 full-time jobs will be created at Raeburn headquarters to service increasing demand for candidates in what the company considers to be a still buoyant North-east jobs market.

Raeburn engineering director Susan Duguid said there continued to be strong demand for skilled candidates from employers.

“We have been planning the move to Ruby House for some time and it could not have come at a better time for us as we have experienced unprecedented demand for candidates. We would normally expect a downturn in the market for engineers in the run up to Christmas but in 2007 that has not been the case and we have experienced the busiest November we have had in many years, particularly for full-time positions.”

She added: “Our clients are telling us that there is a candidate shortage in the North-east – there is certainly not a lack of jobs available and there is a wealth of vacancies in the engineering sector.”

“The most recent Bank of Scotland labour market report published in November confirms what we have been hearing from our clients: engineering is still the most in-demand category of staff for both permanent and temporary/contract employees with Aberdeen registering the strongest growth in permanent salaries.”

Qualified, and perhaps more importantly, experienced engineers are always likely to be in demand in the North-east of Scotland because of the oil and gas industry. However, Raeburn are also closely involved in the nursing and care sector, which is also experiencing a surge in demand for healthcare professionals in both the NHS and private care.

Raeburn nursing and care director Susan Bogle said the company’s position as the only recruitment company in the country which has an established and government-approved contract with NHS Scotland to provide registered NHS nursing personnel, meant the company was actively seeking nurses to fill vacancies for  registered general nurses, care home staff, occupational health professionals and support workers.

Susan Bogle added: “It may seem obvious but we always plan for a surge in demand for staff during the winter months because more people tend to fall ill at this time of year but it can still be challenging to find the right caliber of staff. With good staff at a premium, candidates are well placed to secure industry leading rates of pay in the run up to Christmas.”

“By ensuring our candidates are offered attractive packages we gain their confidence and establish a close working relationship that has benefits for everyone involved in the recruitment process,” added Susan Bogle.

Immigration Status Report - Opening New Doors

A wise recruitment strategy is a global recruitment strategy. With over 25 years' experience providing recruitment solutions to the commercial, engineering and health sectors, Raeburn understand the importance of providing employers with the widest and most diverse pool of highly skilled candidates possible.

Immigration Status Report

As shortages of highly skilled staff become more acute, employers in the UK are increasingly looking abroad to fill growing demands for skilled workers.

To assist in this regard, UK immigration specialists DavidsonMorris Solicitors have created the Immigration Status Report (ISR). The ISR is a service that helps facilitate recruitment from skilled labour markets around the world by providing a detailed assessment, explanation, and verification of an overseas candidate’s eligibility to work and live in the UK.

Benefits

UK
immigration law is complex, restrictive and is currently undergoing major changes. Knowing the best route into the UK is often difficult and, as a result, many excellent candidates are overlooked.  The ISR, through a detailed assessment of a candidate’s qualifications, skills, salary, personal circumstances etc, produces a comprehensive report detailing all the potential immigration routes into the UK, bespoke to that individual.

What is included in an ISR?

·         an ISR Certificate which confirms which visa categories the candidate is eligible for.  The ISR can be attached to a candidate’s CV which assists the HR manager when the candidate's CV lands on their desk;

·         a report detailing the visa categories and how to obtain the visa;

·         NARIC verification of a candidate’s qualifications showing how they compare to UK standards.  NARIC is the official international qualifications comparison service recognised by the British government and companies in the UK;

·         information about how to apply for visa extensions and settlement in the UK

·         if applicable, the report will include detailed information about how a candidate's family or dependents can immigrate to the UK

·         optional summary reports detailing a candidate’s eligibility for American, Australian and Canadian immigration routes

This up-front assessment ensures that:

·         the potential employer can be comfortable knowing that the candidate under consideration has legal routes into the UK

·         these routes will be detailed and can be used to guide employers ensuring that the confusion over the most appropriate routes into the UK is removed

·         qualifications gained at overseas institutions are of equivalent UK degree standard - often a determining factor in the immigration process

·         professional references are available to be taken by both the employer and immigration officials

·         the employer and candidate are aware of the documents required and steps to be taken to ensure a successful immigration application

·         as required, assistance from DavidsonMorris Solicitors to secure the appropriate visa

The ISR team is always happy to assist the employer’s HR department by processing the candidates’ immigration application.

Raeburn Recruitment is THE agency to work through!

Success once more! Be proud to work at, or through, Raeburn who recognise that it IS the people who make the difference in our business. Raeburn Group Limited initially attained Investors in People status in 1996 and have, once more, been successful

Following his assessment visit, the IIP Representative commented:

Every person who was interviewed (a mixture of Raeburn staff and Community Carers) was very very positive with absolutely no negative comments coming through in discussions. If the organisation had been being assessed against the new standards, it would have been scoring 3's with occasional 4's. 3's being very good and 4's absolutely fantastic!

As an organisation, Raeburn:

* Is fully committed to developing its people in order to achieve its aims and objectives
* Is clear about its aims and its objectives and what its people need to do to achieve them
* Develops its people effectively in order to improve its performance
* Understands the impact of its investment in people on its performance
